Cancer is a broad term for a group of diseases in which abnormal cells grow and divide uncontrollably. In a healthy body, cells follow a careful, regulated process, growing, dividing, and replacing themselves as needed. When that process breaks down, cells can multiply without control, invade surrounding tissue, disrupt normal bodily functions, and in many cases form a tumor.
